This was an amazing story of how love at first sight comes about. A lesson in spite and wrong doing also leads to all plans backfiring. ENJOY this DELIGHTFUL STORY!
Very nice read and nicely paced. The story just went smoothly. I would recommend it to anyone. The Duke was amazing to Juliana all through the story. Great read.
I really have to give it up for Arietta. This is such a jewel, you'll fall in love from the beginning. Talk about a great story teller. She totally nailed this bad boy. You get all the excitement, drama, backstabbing, lies and deceit just to top off a few. The characters are well developed and believable. Their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out one another perfectly. The scenes are vividly detailed and descriptive it paints a majestic backdrop that really makes the tale pop. All the twists, turns and unexpected surprises keep the suspense high and running close in this page turning bombshell. Arietta really brings it with a strong plot, a dash of jealousy, a cup of hatred and a large pot filled with evil intentions. You won't want to set this baby down until the last line. Fantastic job Arietta,thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.I received an ARC for this story.
Great hero and heroine, good storyline but it dragged on places and was a little hard to get into it. They meet at a house party and he find her intriguing but There are two villains in the story and they are awful. The heroine suffers from low self esteem and can't believe that the Duke really likes her. There is intrigue, a kidnapping, threats and betrayal all tied up in a satisfying epilogue. This is very clean with maybe two or three kisses. I liked it and will try this author again. It's part of a series and I haven't read any other stories, I don't think, that are in it. They are mentioned but it still stood on its own. I may search some of them out.
Garrett Rutherford, Duke of Kilmerstan, was an honorable, caring man. He was not supposed to be Duke but his father and brother died a little over a year ago. His mother had been nagging him to get married and produce his heir or his distant cousin, whom he did not like, would. Lady Prudence Baggington felt that she and the Duke were destined to be together needless to say he did not feel that way. Lady Juliana Willoughby is the eldest daughter of the Earl of Delbarton, her one and only season was a disaster and she refused to do any more. But her sister still had to find a husband. Jasper Numbton, Earl of Fondleton, was a card cheat, defiler of innocent females, not a nice man and he wanted Juliana to be his mistress and she did not want him or anything else he offered. As you can see the characters are well thought out and work well together. The author has done a great job with this book. It is interesting, attention-getting and a little suspenseful.I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it and loved it.

He agrees to attend a House Party to placate his mother and allow his two sisters to meet eligible men. Lady Juliana Willoughby, the eldest daughter of the Earl of Delbarton, retired from Society three years ago after a disastrous first season and believes herself to be unmarriageable. She agrees to attend the same party to placate her mother and to support her younger, more eligible sister in making a good match. There is a spark between them from the outset but other parties have their own agendas to follow which put a dent in their romance.
