I am a voracious book reader. Almost to the point of obsession. I have thousands, in all different genres and formats. This book is in my top 5 all time favorite books ever, which says a lot!! Do yourself a favor though and get a hardcover copy, it add to the experience. :-DFor my review, I won't get into the actual story line or historic facts VS. mythology and fiction (many reviewers have already gone that route). I want to express my overall impressions of this book, because the feelings this book evoked caused 10+ rereads! The writing in this book is incredible. It sucks you right into the time period and character's minds. You really feel you're there with them experiencing everything. There is historical accuracy mixed in with fiction, little elements like clothing and food that are woven throughout the story in a way that's not tedious to read, but adds to the feel of the book. It's like stepping into a time machine. The interpersonal relationships are masterful and you really become part of the story. When you think of King Arthur myths, this is the type of story you envision. One that makes you question your beliefs about magic, mystery, and humanity -- that in my mind is perfect historical fiction. The author poured her heart and soul into this book, and it shows on every single page.Bottom line, it's not a book ... it's an experience.

I’ve always been a sucker for King Arthur. In between my Robin Hood phases as a kid, I went through reams of stories about Camelot. And in college, I happily hiked around the ruins of Tintagel in Cornwall (supposedly the place of Arthur’s birth). But Marion Zimmer Bradley’s The Mists of Avalon was something new for me: the King Arthur legend from the perspectives of important women in his life, namely Igraine, his mother; Viviane, his eldest aunt; Morgause, his youngest aunt; Gwenhwyfar (a.k.a. Guinevere), his wife; and Morgaine (a.k.a. Morgana), his half-sister.Morgaine is the main protagonist. And unlike in most retellings, she’s not an evil sorceress. Instead, she’s an initiate of Avalon, a mythical island that’s home to a sect of Goddess worshippers trying to stave off Christianity’s growing influence over Britain. Bradley includes the familiar love triangle between Arthur, Gwenhwyfar, and Lancelet (a.k.a. Lancelot), but the contest of religions is the core struggle in The Mists of Avalon. Viviane, Lady of Avalon when the story begins, places Arthur on the throne so that he may serve his Christian and non-Christian subjects alike. But Gwenhwyfar convinces him to become ever more Christian, and Viviane and Morgaine consider this conversion a betrayal of the oaths he swore to win the crown. In the years that follow, Avalon sets itself against Camelot and grows intolerant in kind. Not everyone is as narrow-minded about religion, however. Morgause has little use for gods or goddesses, while the druidic Merlins (plural, in this version) believe all deities are one. Such a diversity of viewpoints is also present in how Bradley portrays the different spheres of influence available to women in her historical fantasy of early Britain. In Avalon, Morgaine and Viviane lead a matriarchal society. In the North, Morgause defies convention and rules as a queen who takes lovers as she wills. But in the South, Igraine and Gwenhwyfar (mostly) accept their priests’ advisements that they should be content to stay in their castles and make children and clothing for their husbands. The overall story is more philosophical than I’m used to for a tale of King Arthur. It’s also slower; The Mists of Avalon spans generations and glosses over the usual knightly contests and heroic deeds. But if you want a Camelot that makes you think, Bradley’s seminal work is worth a read.

I have read this novel a couple of times now and each time it is more rich. It is very long, but there aren't any parts that ever feel like filler, to me. It is an interesting reexamination of a classic branch of mythology, and a from a different point of view. The novel is from the perspectives of the female cast members: Morgaine, Gwenhyfar, Igraine, and Viviane, called the lady of the lake as the leader of the priestesses of the Goddess on the island of Avalon. As such, there is a strong dialogue about the role of women in the time in which the drama unfolds, and an interesting comparison to some earlier civilizations whose primary deities were female. These elements: the role of women in society, particularly in relation to the position of prevailing religious beliefs, and gender roles loom larger than the development of the core story with which most people are familiar. For some, this may be a detriment but I find it is the true merit of the novel and makes the fundamental material on which it is based more interesting.

I continued to read much further than I would normally do with a book that didn't capture me. I won't say the entire book was bad, and there were parts that were actually interesting, I'm just very disappointed. I've wanted to read this for years.First off, the time line is rather difficult to follow. It jumps ahead so quickly and frequently that it becomes nearly impossible to keep track. The hatred and vitriol that rolls off of Gwenhwyfar (don't get me started on some of the name spellings). Judging Morgaine and finding ways in which to blame everyone but herself for the bad things she does. Really all the women are whiny little children that are stomping their feet because they don't get their way. Stabbing one another in the back almost ceaselessly.I made it about halfway through the fourth "book" before I just finally couldn't take it anymore. And that was with a break to read another book.

About the Author

From Paula Yoo: Okay, I admit it. Like Patti Yoon, I play the violin. Yes, I was concertmaster of my Connecticut All-State High School Orchestra. And I snuck out occasionally to see a couple of cool bands (sorry, Mom & Dad). But this novel is a work of fiction. Although I too was forced to undergo a really bad home perm, it burned my left ear, not my right. And there was a cute guy in my homeroom who played rock guitar and asked me to work on a few songs with him, but his name was not Ben Wheeler. When I'm not writing novels that allegedly have nothing to do with my personal life, I also write TV scripts. I was born in Virginia and grew up in Connecticut. I've also lived in Seoul, South Korea; New York; Seattle; and Detroit. I now live in Los Angeles with my husband, who plays guitar and yes, we jam occasionally, just like Patti and Ben.Lin Wang graduated from the prestigious Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China. Shining Star: The Anna May Wong Story by Paula Yoo and illustrated by Lin Wang is particularly apt in today’s social political climate as it follows the career of performer Anna May Wong. It chronicles her career as an actress in Hollywood. For many years she struggled with a dilemma: the only roles offered to her as a Chinese-American were demeaning stereotypes. In order to fulfill her dreams and to help support her impoverished family she accepted the caricature roles. But, she worked consistently to demand better portrayals of Chinese characters in film. The book effectively captures Anna May’s passionate dreams, her humiliations, her compromises and her ultimate success as well as the sacrifices her parents made when they immigrated to the United States. This riff on the immigration theme is a pertinent read for current times.AQ* Lens: Shining Star: The Anna May Wong Story depicts a character immensely proud of her heritage. The daughter of Chinese immigrants, Anna May faced racial discrimination, gender limitations, knew poverty and hard labor. She spent a lifetime carving out a place for Chinese American performers. Through her efforts in the cinema, she helped to spread acceptance and understanding of her culture. This pride and willingness to stand up for one’s roots is a key message for adoptees.--Gayle H. Swift, "ABC, Adoption & Me: A Multicultural Picture Book"

'So glad someone took the time to write about this legendary and talented actress.

Gave it to my grandchildren. I've long been a fan of Anna Maw Wong, and have read two biographies of her. This tells her story in a format that children like. Well done.

My daughters loved this story and the color pictures (especially the part about Anna's childhood and her daydreams where she imagined herself as the heroine in a Hollywood movie). An inspiring bio about someone my kids didn't know of before. Also, it says for ages 9-12, but my 7-year-old liked it as much as my 11-year-old.

Winner of the Carter G. Woodson Book Award presented to exemplary books written for children each year, Shining Star: The Anna May Wong Story is another top-notch biography by Paula Yoo, who also wrote the popular Sixteen Years in Sixteen Seconds. Shining Star tells the little-known story of Anna May Wong, a Chinese-American born at the turn of the century. Since her childhood Anna was dedicated to becoming a movie star against everybody’s wishes and expectations. Her parents forbade her from becoming an actress and Hollywood was not receptive to Chinese actors. These barriers did not hold Wong back; she persevered and after many years of practice she was “discovered” by a director. After she begins earning money, her family has a change of heart and begins supporting her dream of becoming a movie star. Defined and limited by her ethnicity, Wong takes on some small roles and is frustrated by the discriminatory practices and negative portrayals of Chinese people in film. During her career, minority actors were not allowed to kiss Caucasian actors on screen and most films created roles that represented docile and obedient or sinister and conniving Chinese characters.Yoo’s book portrays a strong female role model and shows an era that not only limited the success of females (women couldn’t vote, own property, or attend many universities), but also limited the freedoms of many minority groups. The book has many valuable lessons for students as young as seven who can understand the concepts of following one’s dream, perseverance, and standing up for what you believe in—all principles Wong demonstrates. Other themes represented in the book are forgiveness, the ability to change your mind and providing support to somebody who is following their dreams, as demonstrated by Wong’s parents. The book importantly lends itself to starting a conversation about racism, discrimination, and stereotyping with young learners. Some questions to ask might include: How is the current reality for Asian-American actors similar and different from that experienced by Anna May Wong at the turn of the century? Why do you think Wong was turned down for the roles she sought? What assumptions were people making about her appearance and ability?Shining Star is a valuable addition to any diverse classroom library not only for its concise, powerful and ultimately inspirational story told with captivating illustrations, but for its ability to portray the damaging nature of stereotypes and harsh effects of discrimination.

I had never heard of Anna May Wong before I read this biography. She was one of the earliest Chinese-American movie stars. She was born in Los Angeles in 1905, and started working as an actress in the 1920s, during a time when movies portrayed Chinese people in a demeaning way. Because her family was poor and relied on her earnings, she played these kinds of parts for many years and became a successful actress. In 1936, Anna May visited China and learned as much about the culture as she could. While there, she vowed never again to act in a movie that portrayed the Chinese in a negative light. Starting in 1937, Anna May Wong accepted only roles that showed her character in a positive light. This picture book relates Anna's ambitions and struggles using text and pictures appropriate for children six years and older. I have included this title in my online Gender Equality Bookstore.

For those with low bone density who want to safely practice yoga, this book is a must have! Margaret is right... most yoga teachers, well intentioned as they are, are not well versed in the adaptations needed to keep a yoga practice safe for those with low bone density. The early chapters of the book clearly explain all about bone density, so the following chapters on yoga poses make more sense. I have found her modifications easy to implement into my existing yoga practice. Thank you Margaret!

Wow, so I've been doing some things all wrong over the years, and this book tells me why I knew that things just weren't right for me. My cervical spine is now bone on bone, and I quit yoga practice because it was causing me pain. This book helps me readjust my exercises

Wise advice for those of us who love yoga and have fragile bones. Simple explanations with photos of what to do and what to avoid. If only yoga teachers were trained in these techniques. I’ve been subscribing to her newsletter as well and own her other books.Sara Meeks is another excellent source for exercise modifications for people with osteoporosis or osteopenia.

I have Margaret’s other bone health books, too. This one continues her detailed information and excellent guidance. I really appreciate the knowledge imparted in this book, from information about bones to which yoga poses are safe and unsafe. This book is very useful since I want to stay active even with a diagnosis of osteoporosis.

The book does have some good points on basic osteoporosis information but was not as detailed with the actual yoga poses as I expected. There were not pictures for all poses discussed and unless you are very familiar with yoga and the names of the poses, extra research will be required and that is even noted in the book, that you may need to reference other resources to determine what is being discussed. Also, pages of the book were loose and falling out at the first opening of it.

I have Margaret Martins other excellent book Exercise for Better Bones. This book Yoga for Better Bones is excellent also. She shows us in words and pictures how not to hurt our bones while doing yoga. I personally have fractures and this book helps me to do yoga and not worry about hurting myself. I appreciate all of Margaret’s work.

This book will ease the fear of yoga related injuries by providing a basic understanding of spine and hip anatomy. It is a great guide to yoga practice while avoiding stress and pressure to fragile areas. Any yogi with low bone density will find it an important resource.

The very first point of guidance which my yoga teacher offered was to be safe in our practice. Ms. Martin provides compelling insights along with easy to follow modifications for common asanas for anyone practicing yoga, particularly those of us who are on the older side. As someone who teaches yoga to senior practitioners, this book is an excellent tool.

Escape from Camp 14: One Man's Remarkable Odyssey from North Korea to Freedom in the West, by Blaine Harden

Review

"Harden’s book, besides being a gripping story, unsparingly told, carries a freight of intelligence about this black hole of a country." —Bill Keller, The New York Times “The central character in Blaine Harden's extraordinary new book Escape from Camp 14 reveals more in 200 pages about human darkness in the ghastliest corner of the world's cruelest dictatorship than a thousand textbooks ever could . . . Escape from Camp 14, the story of Shin's awakening, escape and new beginning, is a riveting, remarkable book that should be required reading in every high-school or college-civics class. Like "The Diary of Anne Frank" or Dith Pran's account of his flight from Pol Pot's genocide in Cambodia, it's impossible to read this excruciatingly personal account of systemic monstrosities without fearing you might just swallow your own heart . . . Harden's wisdom as a writer shines on every page.” —The Seattle Times"U.S. policymakers wonder what changes may arise after the recent death of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, this gripping book should raise awareness of the brutality that underscores this strange land. Without interrupting the narrative, Harden skillfully weaves in details of North Korea's history, politics and society, providing context for Shin's plight.” —The Associated Press“A book without parallel, Escape from Camp 14 is a riveting nightmare that bears witness to the worst inhumanity, an unbearable tragedy magnified by the fact that the horror continues at this very moment without an end in sight.” —Terry Hong, Christian Science Monitor“A remarkable story, [Escape from Camp 14 ] is a searing account of one man’s incarceration and personal awakening in North Korea’s highest-security prison.” —The Wall Street Journal“As an action story, the tale of Shin’s breakout and flight is pure The Great Escape, full of feats of desperate bravery and miraculous good luck. As a human story it is gut wrenching; if what he was made to endure, especially that he was forced to view his own family merely as competitors for food, was written in a movie script, you would think the writer was overreaching. But perhaps most important is the light the book shines on an under-discussed issue, an issue on which the West may one day be called into account for its inactivity.” —The Daily Beast“A riveting new biography . . . If you want a singular perspective on what goes on inside the rogue regime, then you must read [this] story.  It’s a harrowing tale of endurance and courage, at times grim but ultimately life-affirming.” —CNN“[Shin’s] tale becomes even more gripping after his unprecedented journey . . . after he realizes that he has been raised as something less than human. He gradually, haltingly—and, so far, with mixed success—sets out to remake himself as a moral, feeling human being.” —Fred Hiatt, The Washington Post“If you have a soul, you will be changed forever by Blaine Harden’s Escape from Camp 14 . . . Harden masterfully allows us to know Shin, not as a giant but as a man, struggling to understand what was done to him and what he was forced to do to survive. By doing so, Escape from Camp 14 stands as a searing indictment of a depraved regime and a tribute to all those who cling to their humanity in the face of evil.”—Mitchell Zuckoff, New York Times bestselling author of Lost in Shangri-La"This is a story unlike any other . . . More so than any other book on North Korea, including my own, Escape from Camp 14 exposes the cruelty that is the underpinning of Kim Jong Il’s regime. Blaine Harden, a veteran foreign correspondent from The Washington Post, tells this story masterfully . . . The integrity of this book, shines through on every page.” —Barbara Demick, author of Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea“In Escape from Camp 14, Harden chronicles Shin’s amazing journey, from his very first memory—a public execution he witnessed as a 4-year-old—to his work with human rights advocacy groups in South Korea and the United States . . . By retelling Shin’s against-all-odds exodus, Harden casts a harsh light on a moral embarrassment that has existed 12 times longer than the Nazi concentration camps.  Readers won’t be able to forget Shin’s boyish, emancipated smile—the new face of freedom trumping repression.” —Will Lizlo, Minneapolis Star-Tribune“Blaine Harden of the Washington Post is an experienced reporter of other hellholes, such as the Congo, Serbia, and Ethiopia. These, he makes clear, are success stories compared to North Korea . . . Harden deserves a lot more than; ‘wow’ for this terrifying, grim and, at the very end, slightly hopeful story of a damaged man still alive only by chance, whose life, even in freedom, has been dreadful.” —Literary Review“Harden tells a gripping story. Readers learn of Shin’s gradual discovery of the world at large, nonadversarial human relationships, literature, and hope—and the struggles ahead. A book that all adults should read.” —Library Journal (starred review)“[A] chilling [and] remarkable story of deliverance from a hidden land.” —Kirkus Reviews“With a protagonist born into a life of backbreaking labor, cutthroat rivalries, and a nearly complete absence of human affection, Harden’s book reads like a dystopian thriller. But this isn’t fiction—it’s the biography of Shin Dong-hyuk.” —Publishers Weekly

I want to start off by saying I normally do not review adult books on Mundie Moms. That doesn't mean I don't read them, because I do. My main focus on my blog is YA books, but there was something about this story that made me say yes to reviewing it here on the blog. It's not a heartwarming story nor is it a paranormal, contemporary or historical YA read that you'd normally see me get all excited about. Instead, this story is a brutal, horrifying, eye opening story into one man's survival, courage and bravery in escaping the unescapable Camp 14 in Northern Korea. After all, how can anyone escape an camp that's "non-exisstant".Part of me excepted this book to take place during a war. I foolish read camp and immediately thought of a prison camp. I've done a lot of reading up on WWII and the horrific things that happened then. I know all to well about the horrible things that happened in German prison camps during that time as my grandfather was a POW, but this story isn't one that happened during a war, this is a story that is happening now, in our day. Though the makings of this story started years and years ago, Shin's journey began in the early 1980's and ended recently when he escaped. Yes, I said recently. This is a story about incredible courage, the will to survive, and the unthinkable strength one man had to change his future, or to give himself a future he had no idea existed. This story is one that would have never had been told had it not been journalist Blaine Harden's promoting and for Shin's willingness to educate others about the horrifying atrocities that happen in this prison camps North Korea. Really this camp sounds more like concentration camp than a prison camp. It was sickening to me to find out that things like this still go on in the world, and what Shin had to endure since he was toddler. Not only that, I can't imagine what it was like for his late mother who didn't have any control over had really happened to her son. There's so much about this story that has left me a little lost for words about what I just read.Blaine does an amazing job at not only telling Shin's story, but he gives readers an understanding at how something like this has gone on unknown for so many generations. Shin's chilling details about his life in Camp 14 go beyond those that you'd find in a YA dystopian. The things Shin endure are unthinkable. Forced into hard labor at a young age, starved, beaten, and having to watch part of your family and even fellow prison mates killed in front of you are things I can't even imagine witnessing. What's more surprising about this story, is Shin is the ONLY known person to every escape Camp 14 and survive.Escape from Camp 14 will not only allow readers to met an incredibly courageous person, but it will definitely give readers a glimpse into the disturbing things that happen in one of the world's most mysterious, dark nations. This is a harrowing story I'd recommend to older, mature readers as there are some very disturbing scenes in this book. This story isn't for the faint of heart, but it's a powerful, thought provoking book that will haunt you long after you read it.

This is my first book review. I am a voracious reader. However, I did not write a book review until I listened to the audio book. One of the reasons that I did not write a book review was because I was not a native English speaker. Writing in English was not easy to me. However, after listening to the book, I felt like I had to write anything, at least saying thanks to the author and Shin, the protagonist, who had to endure unimaginable horror and is brave enough to share his story with the world. Before I listened to the audio book, I had a vague idea of North Korea. For example, NKorean dictator, Kim Jung Il is less human, mentally ill and very dangerous. He exploited NKoreans and let them starve to death. As the author mentioned in the book, I was one of many SKoreans who were simply ignorant and indifferent to Nkorea. I felt sorry for them but that was it. Their story was one of the typical stories of poor communist countries. Their miserable and horrible story did not affect me on personal level until I encountered the book. It was a shocking and eye opening experience to me. Its horrifying story scared me to death. I had to pause many times listening to the book because I could not stop crying, or simply bear his horrible experience any more. After reading the book, I referred it to my family and friends hoping that more SKoreans be aware of the serious problems of NKoreans. I pray for NKoreans whose rights have been completely violated by their greedy, stupid, and less human dictators, Kim's family. I still do not know what exactly I can do to help NKoreans but I will make my efforts to let more SKoreans know the dire reality of NKoreans. I will continue to have interest in unification of two Koreas and support LiNK (Liberty in North Korean).Again, I sincerely thank to Shin whose courage is indescribable, unimaginable, and inspirational. Thanks to him, I realize that my complaints on life is just luxurious excuses. I envy his inner strength. I pray for his inner peace and freedom. I am also grateful to the author who made Shin's story available to the world in such a powerful way.

“Bobby Flay may be best known for his skills at the grill, but brunch is his favorite meal of the week. Brunch @ Bobby’s has 140 recipes that will tempt anyone who appreciates brunch. It has 8 sections: Coffee, Tea and Cocktails, Spreads and syrups,Pancakes, Waffles and French toast, Egg dishes,Pastries and breads, Sandwiches, Fruit dishes and fruit salads, and Savory side dishes.A lot of the drink recipes include alcohol and I don’t drink so for the most part they didn’t interest me and I didn’t spend much time in this section. Now there was a delicious looking pancake recipe “Pineapple upside down pancakes” that I hope to try soon. The recipes throughout look easy enough to follow and are clearly written. I’m not sure I would always have the ingredients available at all times and some shopping may be required before preparing a dish from this cookbook. It does appear that most ingredients can be found in well stocked super markets. This book is full of beautiful photographs of prepared foods. Most of the recipes have a photograph but not all.If you want to prepare a nice brunch I would say this is a wonderful cookbook for that. Even if you are just looking for some good breakfast foods I think you will find it here. It looks like you will need to prepare ahead and give yourself plenty of time to cook. Some of the recipes take awhile to cook. Most of the recipes tell you when it is best to serve after cooking and how long you can wait to serve. He also gives some menu ideas at the end of the book so that you can tell what will pair well with each other.Overall I enjoy this cookbook and it will be one I will keep in my collection. I received this book at no charge from www.bloggingforbooks.com in exchange for an honest review.

I am a sucker for a good cookbook and I have a nice collection. I own a couple of Bobby's other cookbooks but this one is a little different because it focuses on the "Brunch" aspect and let me tell you - it is packed with awesome recipes and ideas for your next brunch!A couple of observations when I first got the book. I love the way it is bound (hardback) and the heavy paper stock it is printed on. I flipped through the pages to find beautiful photographs of the presentations of the finished products. Almost every item is shown with a picture - unlike a lot of cookbooks. It is laid out in a perfect format! First off you have an awesome selection of cocktails for your brunch and most you may have made but he puts a spin on it to make it unique. I really like the section on setting up a serve yourself Bloody Mary and what you need to provide for your guest. At the end of the book he actually puts together a selection of recipes from the book into occasions so it makes it easy to plan your get together with friends. The book is broken down by topic for brunch foods like pancakes, eggs, pastries/breads, sandwiches, fruits to serve and then savory side dishes. I believe there are around 140 easy to understand recipes in this book. Most of the items call for things you should already have in your pantry, if not they are easy to find at most grocery stores. There is nothing over the top or crazy in this book - it is just a good book for your brunch.I did notice a few reviews on here mention that a lot of the recipes contained in this book is on his website. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind going to a website to get a recipe for something but having it all together in one book just makes it so much easier. It is beautifully designed and laid out and takes the burden of figuring out what to prepare by giving you suggestions and ideas. I don't really have anything negative to say about the book. I am very impressed overall. For the everyday cook I think you will really love this book. Again I love the simplicity of it and also the pictures. I have been cooking since I was a little boy and I always use these books as more of a guideline but in this case I think I would follow his suggestions. I'm planning a brunch this spring to be served outdoors and a lot of what I will serve will come directly from this book.A little more about me any why I love this book: I have a collection of cookbooks (around 50) and I love to try new things and invent my own style by learning from the tried and true champions of cooking. I like simple but delicious foods (no French sauces over poached fish with aspic on the side). I am a geek when it comes to cookware and having all the gadgets and the like. I spend a lot on getting the best quality that I can afford at that time in my life and enjoy what I have. I watch cooking shows more for ideas. I'm not a trained chef and have only taken the random cooking class here and there but my teacher was my Mother who was a wonderful southern cook. Thanks for reading my review and if you think it is helpful hit the button below! I try to be as honest as I can and review the products that I purchase and point out what I think YOU would like and not like. I'd recommend this book to friends and family!

I have only made two recipes, the bacon and hash brown quesadillas (which were okay, through somewhat dry) and the oatmeal cookie pancakes. I believe the recipe for the pancakes is incorrect. I made it as instructed and it was unbelievably runny. I then looked up this recipe, also from Bobby Flay (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/oatmeal-pancakes-with-maple-glazed-roasted-apples-recipe.html) to compare the two recipes. In the book, the recipe calls for 1-1/2 cups flour; online the recipe calls for 2-1/2 cups flour. Oatmeal in the book--1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon; online--1-1/2 cups oatmeal. Buttermilk in the book--2 cups; online--1-1/2 cups milk. Maple syrup in the book--3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon; online--2 tablespoons. The book also calls for 4 tablespoons butter in the batter. Online, the recipe calls for 4 eggs rather than 2 eggs as the book does, but comparing all these measurements, you can see why I think the book has some serious typos. I'm very disappointed, but I love Bobby's show and will certainly try other recipes.

This cookbook has some amazing and wonderful recipes! I like to prepare a nice brunch or breakfast on week-ends and for houseguests, and this book has so many unique and tantalizing recipes, that I haven't seen in other cookbooks. Three of our favorites are Bananas Foster French Toast, Almond Croissant French Toast, and Caramelized Onion, Spinach, and Gruyere Strata. There are so many great sounding recipes, that I plan to just "work my way" through the book. This book is an absolute must have for anyone who cooks brunch for family and/or friends.

This book is fantastic! My first of his cookbooks and I am so happy to have this in my collection. The cookbook is wonderful, would make most everything in here. Just the right level of complexity and ingredients to make the recipes very, very doable, but also a big step above what I call "housewife food". I am so glad I bought this and can't wait to use these recipes for years to come. Super happy with this purchase, I cannot image anyone who likes to cook or who loves brunch that would not be thrilled with this book.
