I really loved this book. I thought it was easy to read and had relevant information.

Great condition.

An Amazing read for educators and professionals...this the first time some one covered all the topics related to organization and leadership...also delivery was timely and prompt...price was good too.

Great book. Has taught me a lot.

good book

If you are managing people, if you want to maximize the assets they bring to an organization this book is a must read. Tom Harvey has created a "how to guide" for building teams like no other. Fifteen years later the information and practices in this book are still the most helpful to manage, support and develop high functioning teams. The day to day conflicts that cross the organizational leader's desk are readily addressed by use of the strategies found on the pages of this book. Read it and read it again and again.

This is a must read for anyone in leadership. When working with two or more people, it is important to establish clear expectations of how groups are to work together. Harvey and Drolet's book is laid out in a simplistic format, easy to read, with simple procedural steps to follow to build teams of people to work productively for a common vision. Emphasis is placed laying strong foundation for the group and then identifying the importance of conflict and managing it.A nice follow up to this book is The Practical Decision Maker by Harvey, Bearley and Corkrum. This book takes the next step and gives specific tools and strategies on how to harness and direct the conflict to elevate the team to higher levels of thinking and reaching stronger decisions.

This book was a required reading for me but I would recommend it to any manager, employee and to all organizations who value the team approach. It is an easy read and it puts common knowledge into an easy to follow format. It is very informative and it makes you look at what your place of work does and does not do to help promote a successful environment.

This was a good ending to an amazing series! (But I wish it wasn't the end... :(...) Leith and Renna are still great main characters, but they're starting to get their problems worked out, and in this book, they step aside and Martyn shares the spotlight with them. I loved getting to know Martyn more, as I liked him from the start. There were some pretty funny scenes when he comes a crossed... someone ...as determined as him. ;DIt bears mentioning that this book has references to men and women needing chaperones and several other things like that. It wasn't terrible, but due to this and some torture/fighting/violent scenes, this is not a children's book. One thing that really bothered me (about the whole series), was that this author seems to equate acknowledging God as becoming a christian. At one point a character says when they conclude that there is a God: 'I suppose I'm a Christian now.' No one has prayed and accepted Jesus as their personal savoir, just that he's there. Which was almost enough to give a four star rating, but the story was just so good I had to give it five.

From book 1 when Leith mentions that Martyn is the only person who would care what happened to him, I wanted to know his story. This only intensified through books 2 and 3 when both Leith's and Martyn's choices threaten their friendship. This is finally Martyn's story. We're dealing with the aftermath of book 3. The rebellion is over and a better king on the throne, but for our beloved characters, the hardest part of their journey might be in front of them. Please see the blurb for the tragic details.Leith, Renna, and Brandi continue to shine. Renna and Brandi find their way home and set about rebuilding. Leith finds a real home for the first time and must decide how far he's going to go to protect it. There's a few moments where his past as a Blade rears its ugly head, but generally we're still wanting to give him hugs and telling him to make it right with Martyn.Martyn is also in need of hugs. :) I love seeing him go from a surly sarcastic person to grudgingly doing the right thing to risking it all. Loved his arc, at times hilarious, and at times heartbreaking as we get a closer look into what it was like to serve Respen. We get some new characters, who are terrific. Seriously, I don't think I've disliked any of Tricia's characters. Yes, even the bad guys. :) And there's more of Ranson and Jamie getting to be regular human beings/teenagers, which was a-dorable.The ending was satisfying. The messages tremendous. And everything wrapped up just enough that I'm hoping for some more stories later on down the road. This concludes a fantastic series that I highly recommend if you love Christian fantasy or even just spectacular fantasy in general!

I read Deliver in a day and it was everything I had hoped for. It’s not all that common that you follow the characters after the battle is over and I wasn’t sure how Tricia could top the high stakes of Deny. But she did it. Once the characters have had their happy ending for a moment, the thought of it being lost is dreadful. And then there is Martyn. Leith’s best friend from the Blades. The guy who should have died in his one heroic moment rather than survive. He hadn’t got his happy ending. I wanted hi to have it and even more to know the truth. Tricia did this in such a beautiful manner. Both in the story and in his point of view. He is a sarcastic, cynical character, but so fun to read. Partly because it’s so easy to see what he’s trying to keep from admitting. He’s so close to seeing, but he doesn’t. And now I’m feeling sad,There was also the simple pleasure of seeing how characters have changed throughout the books. Renna had become brave, but now she has become a leader. Not the Leader though, that’s only one person. (in joke) Her and Leith’s relationship has blossomed into something beautiful. It’s the right kind of love, the kind that cares for the other person more. It’s founded on deep trust, not giddy feelings. (but still so adorable)Deliver is a story of friendship, of rebuilding and of upholding what is right. It’s got it’s difficult and scary moments as do all Tricia’s books, but I highly recommend it to ages 15 up. Be warned, though the books are clean as far as language and immorality, there is violence. It’s not gratuitous, but it can get descriptive at time. Medieval war wounds and things of that sort.

I'm not a religious man per say, but you do not have to be religious to get the message. It does not preach at you, but God is prevalent. This series has a great story about struggles, fighting, love, acceptance, forgiveness, and so much more. The characters are what got me, and they are all so alive with their fears, doubts, and hope. In my opinion this series is done exceptionally well. Sorry that this is the end.

Another 5 stars for this series!! It's got it all - swords, revenge, love, redemption, and forgiveness. The characters were delightful. My only criticism is that badly damaged, almost dead people were still able to fight so well - ah, the joys of fantasy!!!The characters are some of the best I've seen (both good and bad). They are well-developed and interesting. Ms. Mingerink, I will be looking for more great books from you! Thanks for entertaining me with good, clean, fun books!

I love these characters so thoroughly. On multiple occasions I really wanted to jump right into the pages to shake or hug one of them.Big theme of this book was trusting God despite the hypocrisy of missteps of His people. People are people, and even after they become children of God are prone to indulging in bitterness and pride. Leith faces this in people's unwillingness to forgive a former Blade, while Martyn's journey revolves around his hurt at being abandoned and his unwillingness to trust--especially Christians and their God.I'm sad to leave Acktar behind, but I'm sure I'll be back for re-reads.

The sign of a GREAT biography is that you learn not only about The Person, but also the times/circumstances in which (s)he lived.Paige is fascinating and entertaining in his own right. Well worth reading to learn about the man who was "Satchel being Satchel" long before Manny was "Manny being Manny."However, perhaps the "hidden gem" of this work is how much one learns about the Negro Leagues, baseball and the segregated US of the times. It is a fascinating insight into how black-communities functioned and how ballplayers fit into that. Basically, players were not beholden to any team/league and travelled around and played for whoever would pay them. With many independent teams, the story of Paige is one of riding the rails & buses, trying to find places to stay and eat....and pitching almost non-stop through it all.Great read.

How can one pretend to know the history of baseball, or for that matter, United States history and race relations without knowing everything possible about Jackie Robinson? And the more I learned about the amazing story and details about Branch Rickey and Jackie Robinson (who played barely a half-season with the great post-WWII Kansas City Monarchs), the more I wanted to know about the peculiar, separate/segregated world of Negro League baseball..And while I was somewhat familiar with Josh Gibson (maybe the greatest ball player of all time!?), Bullet Joe Rogan, Rube & Willie Foster, Pop Lloyd, Willie Wells and others, NegroLeague baseball truly did revolve around one of the greatest pitchers and tied for (with Babe Ruth) the greatest baseball attraction of all time. It wasn't just because he was good (and he was!), he was a great showman, a charismatic personality, and he played professional baseball for a long, long time..Tye's well-researched biography begins with plenty of details about Leroy Robert Page/Paige's early life in Mobile, including speculation about how he got his nickname, his formative years in a reform school because his parents couldn't watch over him effectively (sound familiar?) where he learned to become a talented pitcher. Paige's early maturity in the 1920's corresponded with Rube Foster's formation of the first organized league of African-American professional baseball teams. The book provides a good background on the circumstances and history of both Negro League baseball, including the competitive ownerships of Pittsburgh's Crawford's (owned by Gus Greenlee) and the Homestead Gray's (owned by Cum Posey). Satchel Paige, Tye point out, was essentially the first baseball "free agent" rarely adhering to team or league contractual agreements and regularly working wherever and with whatever team was willing to pay him to promote their game or event.Paige made a lot of money . . . more than almost any professional athlete of his era (except for Babe Ruth). His barn-storming stints with Dizzy Dean's all-stars and then with Bob Feller served as evidence to hundreds of thousands that the best black ballplayers could play just as well as the best white ballplayers. Despite this grudging acceptance on the ballfield, traveling from city-to-city meant dealing with Jim Crow laws and an exhausting barrage of racism and second-class treatment at hotels, transportation services, restaurants and gas stations. It was a tough life that the biography provides a good flavor of how Paige dealt with this life as best as anyone could.Paige's set himself apart from other professional ballplayers because he was so good for so long, and brought so much exuberance to the game that his fan-base grew and appreciated over many decades. Tye treats the dialectic that the best Negro League players felt about Jackie Robinson's signing with a nice touch. It was the beginning of the long-awaited integration of Major League Baseball (and Tye notes correctly that African-American's played at the top levels of professional baseball before "the gentleman's/racist's agreement" of 1887) via an unlikely candidate who wasn't considered one of the best black ballplayers and who many others ("there were lots of Satchel Paige's") felt jealous of.Paige did finally make it into the Major Leagues in 1948, thanks to the irrepressible Bill Veeck and star Shortstop/Manager Lou Boudreau of the Cleveland Indians, who won their pennant by one game thanks in part to Paige's 6-1 record, including 2 shutouts . . . at 42 years old! It's a story of triumph by a great American with immense talent, who started life with many disadvantages but never gave up. After being inducted into the Hall-of-Fame in 1971 and learning that his plaque would be segregated in a separate Negro League section, Paige dropped his playfulness and expressed the justifiable anger that had built up over decades of second-class treatment. It is this congruency of Paige and other NLeague ballplayers' excellence, triumph and shameful treatment that makes this book worth reading. While Buck O'Neill expressed joy that he was, "right on time," Paige's memorial service reminded his mourners not to be sad for him, but for all their fathers and grandfathers who never got to see the best ballplayers play against one another.

Larry Tye paints an engaging portrait of a colorful and talented star who was robbed of a long major-league career because of the color of his skin. Tye's job isn't always easy because many of the accounts of Paige's deeds are scant or missing completely. Paige himself often gave conflicting reports, and of some events we will probably never know--such as how he fared when pitching to Babe Ruth. Tye reports these discrepancies. He also details Satchel's less honorable exploits including the stories of how he may have been guilty of bigamy twice in his life. Neither does Tye shy away from the story of how Paige resented Jackie Robinson, not only because Satchel thought that he should have been the one to break the color barrier, but also because he thought Jackie wasn't properly respectful of the Negro League trailblazers. My only complaint is that I wanted more of his baseball exploits, but otherwise, this was a great ride.

In the eyes of many people, Satchel Paige is more legend than he is reality. Never getting the chance to pitch in the major leagues until he was well past his prime, his greatness cannot truly be measured in terms of major league success. This book does a good job of helping to shed light on Paige's life. A great deal of his greatness is not officially documented, and more based on stories (which he played a large role in creating). He was a great pitcher, but it is a shame that we will never really know how great he actually could have been.Larry Tye does a very good job of bringing the legend of Paige to life, and for anyone interested in learning about this enigmatic figure of history, this book is a great way to educate yourself.

I am a diehard baseball fan who always knew tales of Satchel Paige but did not have a full appreciation for his baseball achievements. most importantly, the book gave me a deeper sense of appreciation for the achievements of the Civil Rights Movement and everlasting belief that our Country has miles to go before we get the yoke of slavery off our necks. BTW, a shout out is deserved for Kareem Abdul for his reccomentation regarding the book. Congrats to Mr. Tye for a magnificent job.

Wonderfully researched and well written book on baseball history as well as Satchel Paige. For baseball fans this book tells a story that is unforgettable and in truth rather sad. It's a story that should be told over and over, and hopefully will never be forgotten.

I thought the book was well written and well researched. The author really gave you insight and a feeling for the times that Satchel Paige not only grew up in but what he experienced in his long career. So many of the great Negro players did not make it to the Major Leagues but the book pointed out who they were and what their accomplishments were like. The really were playing for the love of the game.

Excellent biography on Satchel Paige. Well researched and written. The backdrop of the story is the sad history of segregation in major league baseball. A good follow up for the author would be to write a history of the Kansas City Monarchs baseball club of the Negro League.

Fantastic show and a fantastic book! I really enjoyed learning things about Wayde and Brett that I didn't know before as well as, their other family members and key employees who help to run their business. The pictures were fantastic and I enjoyed reading about the setups and installations that I had watched on TV. The section at the end is very helpful if you are just a beginner at fish keeping and gives good general information from people who know a lot about aquariums in order to get started in the hobby. I just wish they would air more new episodes and write another book!

A fun read of the tv show tanked with good advice on how to start your own tank as well.

Filled with tidbits about the show and everyone involved, it also starts at the beginning and tells how they got their start. Fun read! Daughter loved it

My daughter loved it and had it autographed by the cast.

Was happy to see my Tanked book and very excited to start reading when I finish some of my other books! Was very happy with the quality and would love to take it to Las Vegas and have the guys sign it from the show! Huge fan!

I bought one as a gift and then ordered another for myself.

Its like watching the show all over again and again. Great inside story of the people who make thw show so great.

Gave it as a birthday hit and he loves it! Full of information.

#2,162 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Carter and Lacey have certainly had their ups and downs, all the way back to when they were in high school. The first part of their story, The Lying Game, ended with Lacey moving from Chicago to New York in order to pursue her dancing career, along with her good friend and fellow dancer, Lance. But just when she thinks she's put Carter in the rearview mirror and decides that she’s moving on with her life, Carter turns back up. He may be an all-star basketball pro, but his personal life has been shaken to its foundation and he really needs Lacey's help and support.Having read the first book in this duet, I was eager to read the early copy of this one. If you read my review of The Lying Game, you know I was somewhat unimpressed with Carter's behavior and expected great things from him if he was to redeem himself. Well, he certainly delivered in this book! Don’t get me wrong, there was still plenty of angst with the push and pull and the ups and downs between Carter and Lacey, but the payoff of them finally getting their forever together made it worth all the drama and emotion. The epilogues alone made this book worth reading but the rest of the story was certainly entertaining. And did I mention steamy? I definitely suggest reading both books together, and if you like a sexy sports romance that will tug on your heart and tickle your funny bone, you’ll enjoy escaping into Carter and Lacey's world.*I reviewed this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide a review and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.

The first book was great, fantastic, amazing. I couldn’t wait for the second book to come out. Now I hate myself for paying for it. The author claimed the book would be released late because he/she was traveling and wanted to make sure it was properly edited. Crock of ;@:$. If I typed with my feet I’d make fewer typos. And the cheesy turn? I rolled my eyes and wanted to immediately close the book; I thought it would get better. It didn’t though, and I’m dumb and have too much time, apparently, because I kept reading. Thanks for ruining a perfectly good first story with the second and all of the typos.

Oh my! Where do I start? This was one fantastic read. I absolutely loved it. It seriously had it all. Danger. Anger. Hate. And love. I was so glad Dave (Lacy's dad) did a complete turn around. It wouldn't be the same without him. I think it would have devastated Lacy if it went south. I absolutely loathed Katherine (Social Media Consultant). She rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning. I could feel deceit coming from her. And I was right. She is evil.I enjoyed the relationship between Lacy and Carter. Though it took them a seriously long time to say I love you. I'm so glad Carter never gave up. And I am happy that Lacy didn't give in. She stood up for herself.

The End Game is the second book in The Game Duet by Mickey Miller. The first book, The Lying Game must be read first, as this is a continuation of the first book in the duet. After that ending, I was both excited and scared to get my hands on this book. How would it all end?It was easy to imagine Carter and Lacy’s story over after that ending in The Lying Game. How could they ever move forward? But their journey is far from over and definitely not an easy one. Could Carter show Lacy how much he loves her? Could Lacy open her heart to Carter ever again? With so many hurdles between them, could they ever truly find their happily ever after? I was at the edge of my seat throughout the entire story! The End Game by Mickey Miller was emotional, steamy and full of angst. Carter and Lacy are full of regret and longing, but also a lot of chemistry. I loved all their interactions! I saw a lot of growth in both characters, but especially Carter. This was a story that will pull at your heart and captivate you!Happy reading!

The End Game is the second in the Game Duet and the conclusion of Carter and Lacy’s story. They have had one hell of a long ride from high school sweethearts to now. It has been a ride with many ups and downs, heartbreak, and drama with a few twists to keep it interesting. You willbe rooting for them to find their happy ending but at the same time they will frustrate you and have you wanting to shake some sense into them both. It is obvious that both Carter and Lacy want to be together but they seem to find a way to take the most difficult road possible. In the end, the crazy road they traveled will be all worth it.This is another hit for Mickey Miller!

I loved Carter's and Lacey's HEA ending - but make no mistake, it's not a quick journey. Carter has to work to prove himself. Be sure to read "The Lying Game" first and then be glad you don't have to wait to read the conclusion. I also love the cameos from characters in previous books. I don't know about anyone else, but I grow to love my favorite characters and am always glad to see them pop up in a story. The author has released another great book - I always one-click Mickey Miller's books because I know I'll be turning pages as fast as I can to figure out where things are headed.

This story has danger, angst, mistrust, hate and love. Lacey moves to New York from Chicago to work in a dance company and Carter does not commit so she decides to move on. While Lacey works on moving on, Carter works on his issues and has real growth and realizes he wants Lacy. In doing so he puts her in danger .with out realizing it. This is the second book in The Game Duet. The Lying Game being the first and should be read first I could not put either book down. Highly recommend both.

This is the second part of the Love Game duet and picks up where book #1, the Lying Game ended. This book had drama, humor, heartbreak, angst, and love ..all the things I love in a great story. Carter and Lacey's chemistry is off the charts and their scenes together are sizzling! It's obvious that they belong together, and they face many obstacles along their way. This was such an amazing story and another great hit by Mickey Miller!!I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy.

Review

Praise for the Newbery Honor book, The Golden Goblet"Exceptionally vivid, swiftpaced, and stirring."--The Horn Book"An exhilarating story of the arduous fulfillment of a boy's dream . . . We are given a most worthy hero in Ranofer, one who struggles with his own fears and ideals, who smarts under his own cowardice, but who finds the power to rise to his own strength. This plus the vividly detailed setting make the book an excellent choice."--Kirkus Reviews

I read this to my children ages 7-11 as part of our homeschool curriculum study about Ancient Egypt. The story was very well written. My children begged me to read it every day until we were finished. It starts out slow as it develops the characters and setting in the book; but my children nor I ever got bored. It teaches character values along with the history and descriptions. The story described Ancient Egyptian culture, landscaping, and beliefs in such detail that you almost felt like you were there. I would recommend this book to all ages from 7-90.

We bought this as a read-aloud book to compliment our The Good and The Beautiful History curriculum and I REALLY love the story. the complexity, the language, the history and the morals being taught are amazing, but having kids all under 8 I felt like this book was hard to get through because it was SO advanced. I LOVE had TGATB stretches me and my kids and expect more and learn from advanced language and literature, but I really think they will enjoy and take this in more in a few years. I spend about 1/4 of the time explaining things or retelling in language they can understand.

Hello I'm age ten years. I LOVE fiction books. This book is about a boy named Ranofer who wants to be a goldsmith. But his evil half brother (Gebu) won't have it. Ranofer gets a friend named Heqet. Gebu is a stonecutter. Later on Gebu does something BAD!!!!!! You have to read the book to find out what. Ranofer is asked what he wants. He can have anything in the empire. What does he pick? You guess. In this book the author's point was (I think) don't steal.

I used this as a literature assignment for my 6th grader studying Ancient Egypt. It helped bring the time period alive and make his historical studies more interesting. A little encouragement was needed at the beginning of the book, but by the middle of the book the excitement of the plot had been built up, and the characters held my student's attention. He was excited to read the second half. He would say it was an interesting book if you have to read historical fiction instead of the fantasy genre, like Dragon Run or Fablehaven. For any parents or teachers concerned with trauma sensitive curriculum, there is some child neglect and some physical abuse such as withholding food, beatings and lashes. It was not overly violent detailed or gruesome though.

It did take little man and I a few chapters to really get into the book, but once we got to Chapter 3, we were hooked! The story just continues to get better through the chapters. I liked the "feel" the author gave us of ancient Egyptian times; little man liked the mystery and the detective work done by Ranofer and his friends. Highly recommend!

Follows the paperback very well. The book is part of my daughter's reading assignment and when reading she sometimes struggles with pronunciation of non-English words in the book. I allow her to listen and read along then she can skim back over the chapters for a "smoother read". The audio and text are a great match. Plus, it's a classic must read for all kids in my opinion.

I pre-read this book recently to decide whether it was worthy of being part of our Ancient Civilizations homeschooling curriculum. What an awesome story, with so many lessons about integrity and character in the face of hardship and deprivation. I cannot wait to share it with my sons this fall as we study Ancient Egypt. I will add more to this review once I get their reactions.

We homeschool, and read this book every 3 years when we study ancient history. It’s our family’s favorite historical novel. We got the audio for a car trip. I finally had to take it off of my 10-year old son’s device so he’d get his chores done. He says he listened to it at least 10 times!

This was a very interesting book. I hope everyone reads this. It will be a must read for any defense professional. The book is a listing of various ideas from MG Bob Scales. These ideas were very eye opening. They will get the neurons firing for any reader. MG Scales does a good job of pointing out American historical shortfalls. Those shortfalls were in the area of infantry. The historical step children of the US Army. He then goes and explains how warfare has changed over the last 20 years. Our investment in the billion and trillion dollar weapon systems might not be the best tool to meet these threats. He does talk about how some new weapon systems like in the artillery to meet these threats were shelved due to political correctness. The answer to meeting the new threats is people, and specifically people in the infantry. I liked his ideas on training. I am not sure how workable it is for today's intense tempo army but they are great.

Scales is angry. I'm angrier. Why the infantry (Marine and Army) get to suck hind tit for the dubious privilege of fighting in the mud and slime while DoD focuses on super-expensive toys that add little or nothing the battlefield where the close fight takes place is beyond me.Winning wars should be more than luck and bravado. But that's how we've elected fight lately, right?Message to infantry soldiers, Marines and Spec Ops guys: Get him before he guts you. Public opinion be damned; the world's a very dangerous place, especially in the close fight.

I love the fact General Scales addressed a lot of concerns Infantry Soldiers have in service. Thinking back to my squad leader days, we had to make a ton of adjustments to old and outdated manuals and doctrine. Surprisingly as an NCO, I always had support from my field grade officers to make changes. These changes included how we operated as a small unit (similar to SF small unit tactics). However, to extend these tactics past battalion took military political hurdles and being self critical I could have done a better job envangilizing the need for MAJOR changes. I deployed with the 101st ABN Rakkasan and several times with the 82nd ABN. It’ll be nice if there was an added chapter on shaking up recon units/platoons . I often found myself on stack teams versus a hide/ambush site gathering intel. My brothers who served you know exactly what I am talking about. Battlefield intel and the ability to be agile and pivot is essential. Although addressed in this book, I am bias towards this topic.

Scales presents a realistic picture of where our ground forces stand today. Riddled with depleting resources, poor narrative control, a shrinking budget, and Reagan era equipment our ground forces no longer have the best equipment and training they need to succeed on tomorrows battlefield. Scales holds nothing back in this book when ridiculing past and present leadership for continuously ignoring the evident needs of the Army. He does however find time to praise some noteworthy leaders who have made positive impacts on the military institution. He makes it quite clear and delivers one of the best arguments for a resurgence of ground force investment. A he repeatedly marks on throughout the middle chapters of the book is the low numbers in which our air force and navy personnel die in combat and yet those are the branches continue to receive most of the funding and most of the updated and new equipment! Our ground forces and close quarter warriors are at a drastic disadvantage when it comes to chances of death in war. For a country so averse to dead Soldiers you'd think our military would allocate more funding to keeping them alive. Better rifles, drones, communication equipment, leadership, body armor, armored vehicles, platoon and squad level transportation vehicles are all things he touches on in this book. While only a cadet set to commission this Spring, I find myself hoping that by the time I take to the field our leadership will have already begun financing better means in which to keep our future soldiers alive.

I don't 100% agree with MG Scales, but I understand his thoughts and intentions expressed in this book. I fully support his position that the ground pounder, grunt, or infantryman; what ever you wish to call them have been and continue to be neglected in the military's procurement process. Having known MG Scales since his days as the Commandant at the US Army War College and having experienced the military procurement process first hand with Army and as part of the Special Operations Command I have to say I think his foresight has helped and thank him for that.

Excellent book by a true military intellectual. I hope that the people in the Department of Defense who are responsible for spending taxpayer dollars for research and development will take the author's advice and develop technologies that will benefit the people at the tip of the spear (special operations and infantry troops).

General Scales provides an insider's view into the reasons for our nation's lack of investment in infantry close combat forces and its strategic impact when the enemy inevitably refuses to fight a conventional war.

Given the current emphasis on high cost weapons systems, Bob Scales makes the case that defense dollars first priority must be directed to the "point of the spear" - that is the combat infantryman who has borne the demands of today's wars. A must read for defense appropriations decision makers and those who care about our service members (all branches) who are the boots on the ground.
